How can I increase the number of visits?

My site has an average of 400 visits per day. What are the strategies to follow for me to increase the number of visits to 1000 or more. It will be beneficial if any one can suggest the sites where postings and back links can help increase my site's visits.

I have also encountered a problem of my site appearing and disappearing suddenly in the search engines. Can anyone tell me why this happens and what I have to do to ensure that my site stays!!!

 

It wont happen over night, but you need lots of backlinks, and good on-page SEO. I recommend building backlinks by forum posting and blog commenting.

 

I know this thread is in the SEO section, but as well as looking to generate more traffic from search engines, it might be worthwhile to look for other sources of traffic, such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and possibly from other sites within your niche.

Consider advertising your website using the Google Adwords & Overture search engine advertising systems (maximum budget varies and can be set)

Consider running an advertisement in an ezine that is targeted directly at your target market. (rates will vary depending on ezine)
