The only thing I have to worry about is bush fires. I've got a basic bail out/bug out bag, along with my backup drives, family photos, and some other sentimental bits and pieces. First sign of smoke and I pack everything in the car, ready to hit the highway.
I live on the coast 10 feet above sea level in a bad hurricane area so an emergency plan and emergency survival supplies are common sense. A generator can at times be worth it's weight in gold.
if you live in a disaster area or even close to one i would get good insurance and for tornados dig underground.
While I haven't kept up with this, I've been told you should always have at least a 3 weeks supply of food on hand in case of disaster. Dehydrated and powder mixes will last for a long time. For example, here's a powder mix for potato soup. I have actually made this, and it was pretty good...
