Laptops Vs Tablets

I've had a lot of experience with both laptops and tablets. This is what I've found out so far.

    Tablets:

    1. Depending on what kind you buy, most tablets are easy to carry around but if you don't like touchscreen - I'd say hands off unless if you want to be taking a mouse, keyboard and the tablet with you. If you love touchscreen, then a tablet might be perfect for you.

    2. The one thing that makes tablets feel uncomfortable is the size. If you don't have anything proper to stand a 10 inch tablet on, it can be difficult to hold in your hand...unless if it's something like the ipad but even the ipad can get heavy.

Verdict: If you're really wanting something small and lightweight to carry around, I'd avoid 10 inch tablets. If you want a tablet to carry around in the home then they are great. However, 7 inch tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab is ideal for students and people who need something very light and slim to take around in their pockets on the go and check their emails.

    Laptops:

One thing to remember: Just because it's tiny doesn't mean it's not heavy to carry around. If you're wanting a laptop and need it for the road, always see how heavy it is first.

Example: the Dell Duo Convertible itself is not that heavy but if you get the dock with it, then it can get heavy but the dock with the Dell Duo makes it awesome!

However, the Chromebook seems to be almost as light as they come as far as laptops go!

Suggestion: If you have the iphone 4 or either the Samsung and a laptop then you can use the bigger screen for research and use the smaller screen for making bullet point notes and then email those to yourself.

Do you have a tablet and a laptop? Do you notice any big differences between the two? I wish that you could make calls on the Samsung Galaxy Tab...

I personally hate typing on my droid 2. I resist sending emails / text messages on it... I actually miss my simple BB. Most times, a laptop is needed but I also carry an ipad with me when I'm traveling and need to catch up on email quickly.

Of course it's unique :) :) It's based off my personal experience with tablets and laptops. I love gadgets and addicted to them, so I try them all out. My piece of heaven is walking into a store like Best Buy and playing around with the new gadgets that they have. :D

Hm, yes IBM convertibles are sexy looking to say the least but I wonder why they aren't as popular anymore. Do you think it was the high price tag for them possibly?

Ya, I feel you. Doesn't it get annoying having to carry separate devices. With my dell duo convertible, I still have to have another screen when I want to do my article writing if I'm not on my main computer. Ack, indeed!

How heavy is your laptop and can you easily tote it around with you? What kind do you have - if you don't mind me asking?? :)

I agree a laptop that flips around into a tablet is the future.

You will soon have the best of both worlds in time.
