    I don't know if this has ever occurred to anyone but I just wonder how long will the SEO industry go?

    There are a huge number of websites in the world and if everyone does a cut throat competition how many websites are going to be on page 1?? on google where only 10 websites are displayed. if there is a competition there is going to be a dead end. And if I am correct there would be many sites that would be difficult to beat. what will happen at that time? Like Fridge and TV. Previously there was Fridge and TV only with some rich people now all of us have it same way tomorrow when everyone will come to know about SEO. What is going to happen. Could anyone answer my question?

    Will SEO be having a dead end? Are we going to rely on traditional advertising again?

    Well Mate, Remember one thing always. If you Have business and you have thoughts in your mind to spread it through the world via online the only option you left with is Search Engine Marketing. Now if you think without SEO/SEM you can generate your business via online. Let me know. Do you have any other alternative ???

    You will never get the end of a river. When it ends its running, then starts sea. ;) SEO is like that, if present technique of SEO do not work then new way will appear. Do not worry every thing will run better than present.

    Oh, yeah? But if only they change the algorithm.. the number of your visits will drop.. I think one should work for your business not for SEO only, even though SEO will improve your results for now..
    sometimes we forget users needs just for SEO reasons..
    don't we all have a little bit of SEO-litis?

    SEO will not die, but I do think it will change, and develop, as the search engine algorithm change and get better, the seo methods will evolve. There is no other way to get customers for new businesses. I also think that it will go to more paying oriented methods.

    SEO no longer the most significant but it is still required to make sense for the crawler. But overtime the crawler will know which site is the most visited and have the most useful information. So if a lot of junks with no facts and useful information. No matter what kind of SEO it won't work i guess.

    Google is smart.

    SEO died 2 years ago as a stand-alone practice, sorry to break the news. SEO is now merely a sub-set of integrated marketing. Most major SEO companies have either been invested in by ad agencies or taken over. SEO is now sold as a 'software as a service.' Brand-building is all that matters now.

    SEO is going to become more GEO Targeted. In the sense that when you do a search query google will show up results only close to you. May be within 5km range or 10km or even 1km range. So google will show the results based on relevance(current system) along with geo location(next big thing) and then moving ahead it will become more social ie google will show up only sites which are being spoken socially.
