    How do the owners of BackPage Make money?

    I see some cheap scrubby ads on the right collum...but those are few.

    I'm sure they must be paying a webmaster....so how do they make money?

    Paid sponsor ads might bring in some cash.

    I see their adult section...escorts putting up FREE ADS....and some paying for premium ads on the right...BUT this is NOT ENOUGH to make a serious Profit?

    There ads are not free for them to post. I did this job for someone and in some cities it can cost up to 10 dollars for the ad to go up. Then if wanting it featured and all that it costs even more money. Some cities such as miami have very long lists so they definetly profit off that site. Their adult section has even been featured on the news people say they will get shutdown like craigslist.

    They also make money by charging you an extra fee to have your ad listing in the local newspaper. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

    Apparently they are owned by the Village Voice and they definitely have a Webmaster.
