My son (10years old) is doing stop motion videos. He is using Windows Moviemaker to make the video but is having sound problems with the audio software he is currently using. What audio software would you recommend for this?

I use Final Cut Studio and I'm 15, but I'm also a total video nerd and FCP is very expensive :p

You may try AVS Audio Recorder which has many great functions. The features in the official site are below:
    1. Record Your Audio
Record your own music, voice or other audio. Record any audio files and save them in such popular formats as PCM, MP3, ADPCM, WMA and others.
    2. Customize Your Audio Devices
Select and configure the audio recording device.
    3. Customize Settings for Your Audio
When you record, specify frequency, number of channels, bitrate, balance, volume settings and other parameters of supported formats.
So I recommend you this tool, you can see detail and guides:
    http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Audio-Recorder.aspx
but only works for Windows XP, 2003, Vista (no Mac OS/Linux support)
I hope this may help you

I'm a Pro Tools guy myself. But if you're looking for free software, give Audacity a try.

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Simple to install, and simple to learn. I know a lot of pro voiceover people who use Audacity on a regular basis. I've got it installed, and use it to make quick edits when I don't need the power that Pro Tools provides

A simple and user friendly audio recording application I use is Mp3 Recorder Studio. It records any sound directly in mp3 or wav, can skip pauses and split files in long recordings

He is having problems with the audio recording part of windows movie maker? Or, are you using something else record the audio?

I have used the audio recording feature of movie maker before, and it works good - for a basic recorder that is. Then you just import the audio files into movie maker.

I know that this is an old question.

Yeah, I agree that Audacity will be good for recording or editing audio. Still, if this one can't satisfy you well, you can try other audio recorders. I have used a streaming audio recorder to edit audio files and record streaming audio on my PC.

I suggest u AVS Audio Editor, One thing I liked about the demo version is that it edited the whole audio, not just the first 2 minutes. It allowed me to get a good idea of the file size to quality ratio.

Audacity. Beside the software, the most important thing is brainware, that's you :)
