Long Domains?

I'm thinking about hand registering this domain name that's 25 characters long.
I know it's a bit long, but it's very descriptive and in a area where CPC is very high. There aren't any shorter domain names available in this niche, obviously.

So my questions are:
Is 25 letters too long for a domain name?
What kind of prices have you seen longer domains go for? (.com)

 

Technically there should be no limit but most registrars restrict it anywhere from 26 to 67 chars long. Enom seems to let you have up to 256. in my vision that is not good try to do some abbreviation.

I suppose that short, unique and descriptive domain will be much better and bring you more profit..

If it is long but still descriptive and easy to remember as it is. it must work quite well.

 

You can still register with long domain names but short and easy to be remember is much better.

 

With thousands of words in the vocabulary I'm sure you can find something unique, short and easy to remember.

 

Longer domains will have less natural type in traffic, but more search traffic. I think the search traffic out weighs the type-in traffic, so I would go for it an register it if you haven't already.

Thank you, But my question was more geared to: does a long domain have any resell value if it is in a specific niche?

And What length is so long that it should be ignored nomatter what?

 

Long domain won't sell good, since people on the internet have gained laziness they won't be bothered to type in a long address so the site won't be much use.

 

I have wondered about long domains - if they match the search phrases exactly then they should rank well - but on the other hand do search engines view them as spammy?

 

For typing purpose, I say no, cz the only reason why domains exist is because ip are hard to rmb.
For SEO purpose, it might work. how about this, use tht as primary, then use another short domain to redirect over to the complicated domain. that way, there will be no issue of forgotting.

 

basically, choosing a short one is better than long domain name, but as long as that domain name is common and have a good nicle why not, try it
