So many people are slamming those that are looking to build Google PageRank to their domains over recent weeks and I thought that as someone who works with some of the biggest names within the online world, I should really chip in a little. Okay, well there are plenty of webmasters out there that are unwilling to offer their links to lower PR sites but do they have a reason to be cautious? Although PageRank is not a factor that is considered as a direct factor within the ranking of a website within the search engine results, there are benefits to having PageRank both on your site and on those linking into your site. I will explain a little more in the following information. What is the true value of a high PageRank link? Well the value of an incoming link into your site (in terms of what it offers to your site) can be huge. Imagine that each stage of the ranking scale offers a different level of strength and backing for your site, meaning that a PR1 link would be worth less than a PR2 link. Your now thinking… “Yeah this guy is telling me what I already know, wonder what someone is selling in the domains section….†Well wait just a moment and I will explain the true difference between those levels… Imagine that the PageRank scale was to be represented as a pyramid, PR0 being the larger bottom tile of the structure. Now what a lot of website owners fail to know is that the steps between the ranks are HUGE in terms of the value of the link to your site… For example… PR 0 = 5pts PR 1 = 50pts PR 2 = 300 pts PR 3 = 3000 pts PR 4 = 15,000pts PR 5 = 50,000pts PR 6 = 120,000pts PR 7 = 250,000pts PR 8 = 750,000pts PR 9 = 1,200,000pts PR 10 = 4,000,000pts Now although the figures shown here are just for demonstration, you can get the idea as to the huge differences between the value of the rankings of the links that are coming into your site. Now I have to head out now but I will be showing my information, hints and tips on the forum again over time so keep an eye out.
As explained below the table, the figures there are for show only but the idea behind the table of 'pts' is correct.
You say you work with some big names who do you want to bullshit here PR is an valued that if you struggle with it you waste time and resources ... And PR is very very very rare updated this days hope google anounces soon that they drop it so i won't see such "funny" theories ...
There is no bullshit being spread here, just industry known FACT. I work for one of the biggest reputation SEO companies in the UK, the sort of company who's owner travels the globe to give talks to SEO specialists.... I am not prepared to reveal the company nor the owner of said company as that is not your business but i will tell you that calling this bullshit is not only showing that you have a distinct lack of knowledge within the field but also that you are marketing your sites in the wrong way. What you say about the PR updates being very rare is true but with the recent alterations to the way in which Google search engines work and the strain on the company needed to roll out those new features has lead to a delay in the latest BIG update. There have been smaller updates reported by people across the world and this backs up the fact that Google are currently going through the updating process, whether that means that there will be a major update is still not known but small changes are being recorded, just like the webmaster above who says his blog has achieved PR1 today. I strongly suggest that if you have limited knowledge within the SEO field that you avoid trying to cause 'burning' in the threads of those who work within the industry for BIG name clients (talking millions of $ per week turnover).
1. I am sorry, but this has been well known for a very long time. Everyone who starts with a new site knows it may get easily a PR 1 or 2 while going to PR 7 from PR 6 requires a terrible support. PR scale is much more a logarithmic scale than a linear scale. 2. The value of a link depends on quite a lot of others factors: -- quantity factors such as the amount of outgoing links on the page offering the backlink -- qualitative factors such as anchor text and, probably above all, context and relevancy. Keep also in mind that PR as showed by google bar or similar tool is not the real PR's as used in the google algorithm .
I have pointed out that people know that its harder to get PR 7 than it is to get PR1 but the demo above is showing the sheer magnitude of the task ahead. The real key to successful PR rankings is not just taking into the account the positive values but also to fear the negative....

Surely the learning of SEO would be better done from industry professionals that are well informed in the matter rather than to head to the link you have just provided that gives a link at the top from a forum of people 'guessing' at how it all works? I guess this is why so many people fail in their marketing... People would be better learning from seobook or seomoz.
I guess it's very important to get your page rank up high in the search engine database - especially when Google is ranking blogs far more periodically than websites - I've learned a bit of skill from a friend that linking to directories websites and blogs with high page rank will increase your rank of your blogs in your optimization......................... with that said wherever you can find blog directories website directories and blog commenting with high page rank value then you'll be able to see the high scores........................ Cheers
My OP is not to outline that Google PR is vital, just that it has more importance than many give it credit for. As for blogs being ranked over websites... Not always true... Just that blogs often have a wider span of keywords to aim for where as the likes of a bathroom company prefer to aim for the major keywords like 'bathrooms' or 'bathroom suites', it all depends on the brand and the company behind it.
As I know, Google update PR of your quality sites every seconds with their algorithm. PR tools not show your real PR today but it will be your parameter to develop a site. If you said PR 10 have more pts than PR 0, I absolutely agree. How many detail factors that determine a PR? I think only Google and God know it.
I'll go with Matt Cutts on this one who recently said that page rank may be updated only 3 or 4 times a year and that you should focus your seo efforts on other areas. That shows that PR can be irrelevant for long periods throughout the year. I have also seen sites with a PR of 2 rank pos 1 for a competitive keyterm over sites with a pr of 6. The proof of the pudding is in the eating...
to the matter I agree above with Matt Cutts - of course he works for Google - therefore search engine optimization is key to natural ranking - Matt Cutts targets page rank as a marketing scheme,' use to dominate webmasters - -----------------
