You can do it as long as the author doesn't catch you.

you may be penalized from the author. Author has complete rights in the content of that book. So, it is better to take the permission from him and write any thing you want.

Depends on what country you live in. In some countries you might get sued. But if he catches you he can have your site shut down if the content is copyrighted. Also, most ad companies it is against their terms of service to have their ads on sites that violate copyrights.

For me it looks OK, but only if you write in your own words you will be fine. e.g "How to Install Exchange Server 2010" the article you want to publish on your blog and you read some books before you write such article. That is fine you can gather knowledge from any medium before you publish articles. Even in IT realated books also, the author refer lot of other publications before he penned, right?

If you rewrite the content, meaning you talk about the topic with your own words, then it's fine, but don't do paraphrasing, do a little better than that.

the fact that you asked for it, means you know it is wrong. Then don't do it. The author can sue you legally, or your site might be penalized by Google, your site will shut down, etc. Any of this won't give you stable earnings.

Books are meant to give knowledge. Read them rather than copying them, there you will have more things to write.

Hmmm, well be careful. I would not risk it myself if I had Adsense on the site.
    Good luck in your work.

Gosh, the best books that are out there are free for you to publish with no re-writing. It's only modern crap that is copyrighted.
