Manal al-Sharif -- Women2Drive -- 17th of June

Discussion in 'Politics & Religion' started by Rebecca, May 24, 2011.

Manal al-Sharif is a woman in Saudi Arabia that opposes the ban on driving. She was arrested after filming herself driving, and posting the video to YouTube. From what I've read, it's saying she was arrested and released saturday, but then they re-arrested her on sunday.

Manal is helping with the Women2Drive campaign in Saudi Arabia on Facebook. It's a campaign to encourage women to drive on Jun 17th. You can read more about her on Mashable , the New York Times , and CNN as well.

Hopefully, Saudi Arabia will remove the ban on women driving.

There's a great racism concern in the United States I wonder if they would insure that everyone there lived equally and mind there business for once.

it is only human to be concerned and raise voice when he/she sees discrimination. does east/west/north/south matters. if you see someone being treated badly wherever it may be, wont you be concerned, or will you just take a pass?

Just write to your congressman that U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia should order their government to remove the ban. ;)

They won´t even drink water before first checking with Washington.

It seems the real problem on this thread is not intervention by the West/US, but rather this woman crying out for attention on this issue with her facebook page, youtube videos etc. Maybe you guys can figure out a way to shut her up. A bullet would do it, though in ATVKing's part of the world, they save money on bullets and use a hammers instead. I'm open to better ideas if you have any.

People crying all over the world. Hunger, disease, etc. Why give specific attention to woman driving. Is it because they have Muslim Law or because they are Muslims ? Arabs ?
If you can just leave them alone. Mind your own business.
    Vote President Obama for 2012.

I case you've failed to notice this is an action conducted by arabs not by the west .

The US is the only country where the majority will become a dead minority - they'd rather commit suicide then be considered racist.

All problems are being addressed more or less . Why not help someone if you can ?

It's kind of hard to divide the KSA since it's hardly a nation anymore. 60% of the inhabitants of KSA are immigrants .

LOL keep dreaming . In case you didn't noticed we are already taking action to prevent that . We don't need immigrants since we already have a workforce that's big enough .

Signed. I wonder what IsraeI and Misato are going to do now that I've meddled in someone elses business? My guess:

IsraeI will go back to constructing his suicide bomb vest, before heading over to WWW's house to consider possible targets.

Misato will log off, sign on as Poptalk and say something to back up his Misato account.
