    As I posted in the other thread ...
    You could observe the backlink structure of your competitors ... yahoo site explorer and the free tool linkdiagnosis could help you with it.

    To answer your question, press releases, article marketing, non-spammy blog comments and so on - you can find out more on ways to get backlinks here;

    If your niche is online games, it is a pretty competitive niche - you either need to have a great selling point and/or content, or if that is your main keywords you will need a LOT of time to build a reputation about online games..... it might be better to choose more suitable keywords to start with (to build a brand/reputation) and focus on the short tail words in the long term.

    Search using "online games" at Google for relevant sites, article directories, forums and put your site url's abiding the site rules. For instance, write some articles and use your site link at the bottom of article where the link should to be placed. In such way you'll get some good backlinks. Keep your eyes on competitors site and find what type of links they have.

    I agree with the other posters. Evaluate the backlinks of your top competitors and try to follow their strategy. Obviously, this is an effective strategy...

    If you find tons of backlinks in forums, then you should consider participating in those same forums. If they have lots of articles on blogs and other websites, you should get your articles posted on those same websites. If they have paid directory links, you should pay for those links too. See what your competitors are doing and follow suit ;)

    Reverse engineer your competitors' sites, use advertisements to gain traffic. If it is competitive, using SEO will be a slower method.

    yeah....first find out your competitor's strategy and then link up there. Then make your own strategy to rule over them.

    You can use your own methods of link building (there are many) and also check on your competitors strategies. This way, you get the best of both worlds and may eventually out rank them in the SERPs.
