Religion is a Crutch for the Weak

If you go to church regularly, pray and read your Bible often, you're probably not the person that I'm talking about here. I'm talking about those people who rarely go to church, rarely associate with other Christians and worst of all, rarely spend any time educating themselves about Christianity.

I'm talking about the people who use God as a crutch and only during the bad times in their life. Let me give you an example, a so-called Christian woman overspends on her credit cards by $75,000. She doesn't know where she's going to get the money and now it's time to start praying to God.

Please God, help me and I won't do it again, I promise. If you could just get me out of this one hole that I've dug myself into, I will start going to church and I will even start to donate some money, if you give me extra.

I'm not asking for much, and like I said, I will never do it again but please God help me.

These are people who use God, only when and if there's an emergency or only when things in their lives aren't going as planned. You probably know someone like this and if you consider yourself to be a good Christian, people like these often irritate you.

Why do they irritate you? Because some of them actually get their prayers answered and end up in the same situation, later on in their lives, only to repeat the same process of asking for more, while doing less.

To be honest with you, I'm not a Christian and these people really irritate me. When they're around other Christians, they start talking about Christian things, when they're around nonbelievers, they will rarely mention their religious views and last but not least, most of these people, rarely do anything to support Christianity.

Often learning more about Christianity, will help you deal with these people more effectively. Education, especially within your religion can benefit everyone.

    (full text)

I kinda agree with the above, it seems that people use religion as an excuse for every good and terrible thing in their life that THEY THEMSELVES CAN OFTEN CONTROL.

    What do you think?

I'd rather live my whole life assuming there is a God, only to find out that there isn't, than to live my whole life assuming there isn't a God, only to find out there is.

It is useless to call upon the Creator at any time....we are expelled. We have been told to find our own way to the Everlasting if so desired.

Christianity is a substitute for the control that is necessary for Remittance, finding our own way and is the same weakness discussed above that is perpetuated over time.

God is not a name but is a shadow which always remain with those who believe in it whether they are strong or weak.

Yeah, I'm sure "god" would be very happy about such reasoning. Very, very happy.

I'd rather live my whole life assuming there isn't a God and not find out anything because when you die it's finished, you cease to exist, end of story.
