There are lots of offers for backlinks available on this forum and I suggest you to do some article marketing and video marketing if you are just starting.

 

For free you can start from blog commenting and guess blogging in your niche. If you have a budget, you can buy blogpost or backlinks.

 

Join love/dating forums and add a signature link to build quality backlinks. I'd make a few posts a day on about 5+ forums.

 

Back links you can easily get. What you need to do is after you get them, Index them. This can be done by using a WordPress plug-in called Pingback Optimizer.
That way your backlinks will be seen by Google much better.

It depends on what you want to do. You can do it yourself if you have a lot of time on hands. You can do article marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking, social networking, profile links, forum links, Yahoo Answers, link trades, video marketing, etc... This is just a few of them.
