    Backlinks will get you a higher PR. To be honest what matters is traffic!! If you get 1,000s of hits a day who cares what your pagerank is ;-)

    For me PR and Traffic both matters. It tells how reliable your site is. Backlinks are helpful to gain more traffic and high PR as well.

    PR is just a number in my past 7 years as a SEO/site owner i never cared abbout PR at this point i don't even bother checking the PR ...
    Rankings are all that mather

    And PR and Rankings are 2 diffrent things and like 0 connected ...

    Backlink is powerful than PR. Backlink will give you valuable traffic than page rank. Backlink will also give you higher PR. So, backlink is powerful than PR.

    Like everything with Google, what is important one day won't be important the next. The best thing you can do is focus on strong content and lots of it. Get some backlinks, create many strong anchor links within your site, create individual theme pages and put the keyword phrases in the url. Work the social media, build your list, read marketing books, etc. Leave no stone unturned.

    Pagerank = NOTHING...just a NUMBER!
    Backlinks help people find your site, and the more "quality backlinks" you have the better you will rank in search engines with good on-page SEO. Quality backlinks are backlinks on non spammy sites with similar niches to your website.

    Getting a high PR is good for your website's credibility, and to accomplish that is to get back links - quality back links to be exact. However, having a good position in search engines is much better than PageRank. Work on producing a high quality page content with keywords that flow naturally within it; Google gives favor to websites that work hard to provide their visitors with good material.

    If you focus on getting your backlinks from High PR sources then that will help increase your PR and serps as well, and ultimately that will increase your traffic.
