I want to promote our Product Forum through useful and informative blog commenting on other blogs around the web'.

However, I don't really know where to start, what should I do and what should I not do?
How do I find it what is a dofollow and a nofollow?

    All help and advice appreciated.

search for "your keyword" + "blog" or "forum" for example "cheap car tires blog" and then make a list of blogs or forums, fastest way to sign up for them is to write username, password, email in a notepad so that you can quickly copy past when creating an account.

    Good luck.

You can outsource it, there are people on Fiverr that will do blog commenting for you.

For finding forums and blogs do a google search with this or similar phrases:(keyword is your main keyword or niche)

    1. keyword inurl:forum
    2. keyword inurl:board
    3. keyword inurl: phpbb
    4. keyword inurl:viewtopic

Depends on what you're looking for though. The Fiverr posts are mainly by people who have used the same, overly spammed, and 99.9% nofollow Scrapebox list. That's fine if you're trying to get a small boost, or at the very least increase your total # of backlinks.

If you're on the hunt for high quality dofollow blogs grab Firefox + the "search status" extension. It will give you the PR of the page, plus show you if the comment section is dofollow or nofollow.

Do a google search with " KW + blog" or simply KW "powered by wordpress" and you will see lot of places to comment :)

Concentrate more on relevance of pages where you comment more than the fact whether they're dofollow or nofollow.

I have used fiverr a couple of times, but never happy with the quality I have received so probably won't to be honest.

cornerslice and testarossa have given you very good advice - this will allow you to find blogs in your niche, which will be far more relevant than commenting in other blogs.

Find relative blogs to your niche, contact the author of the blog, exchange guest posts with them and you'll get some good link juice :)

You can find related blogs from doing a Google search. Also you can use do-follow blog search engines to find blog posts. You can use SEOQuake or no-dollow plugin for firefox to find out whether site is do-follow or no-follow.
