Is Bing better than Google in some respects? - A NewYork Times Article.

Bing just reeks of Microsoftness to me.

By Microsoftness I mean its just not very cutting edge of experiemental.

Sorry if this offends anyone.

 

I like Bing and Google, Googles just a habit now though and Bing will need to bring some really cool and unique features for me to start using them more.

 

I am starting to dislike Google's instant search, its messing the result and its too fast for me. Do you get what I mean?

maybe there are some niches where it makes no difference. but generally, better conversions from bing.com are a long-established fact, since the days of live.

it's because bing users are dumber.

 

Not much, like 200 a month or so. But 50 leads makes it worth it

 

Absolutely spot on. The only problem I have with Bing is the crawl speed as it take Bing and Yahoo ages to find new pages.

Second that! Bing needs to speedup crawling of new pages. Otherwise, Bing seems to be very consistent in its results.

 

Google is best because they provide me best service than any other. Bing may perform better than Google at 1 or 2 field, but this can not prove that Bing is better than Google.

 

i am getting 50% traffic from Google, bing only generate 5% of traffic. you can see the big difference between google and bing

 

Cant say about others but personally i prefer google than bing

That is a bit of a surprise! In fact, my experience is that NONE of the search engines including Google provide proper results for many of our queries, and three have been several occasions that I had gone 10 to 20 pages deep in Google results to find some relevant results with no success. Even trying different search phrases do not help much. It is not to say that we had relevant results in others like Bing or ASK. They too had similar problems. How many DP members are fully satisfied here with Google (or any other Search Engine) results? Appreciate if members could share their thoughts.

 

It is. For me personally it's easier to book plane tickets off bing than google because they have a travel engine built into the search engine.

 

It's a great article, but at the end of the day the regular searcher still knows only about Bing.

Bing always gives me poor quality results. If you have a exact match domain, Bing will instantly rank the domain, never mind if the website is totally crap. A lot of penalized websites by Google including many autoblogs, still get ranking from Bing.

To me, Bing is like a place where all those convicts who got thrown out by Google can still find a new lease of life....

The big problem is Bing hardly penalizes any websites, they don't even know what is blackhat....or care.
