$60 Radio Controlled Hobby Logo Contest

It's been a while since I ran a logo competition, so I thought it was about time run one now.

This competition is to design a logo for my new website, RC Flying, which will be about flying RC Planes, RC Helicopters and general remote control aircraft.

I would like the logo to incorporte the name 'RC Flying' and/or possibly 'rcflying.co.uk' and some kind of rc flying motif. You can use the clouds and colors from the current website header, or ignore them/make a badge type logo that could be stamped over the top and on any background.

The competition starts now and will end on Friday 6th May at 8PM GMT +1 (i.e. British Summer Time) - just in time for the winner to collect their $60 (via Paypal) for the weekend.

I will interact with posters as we go to give feedback.

Good start, but that's an old (very old 1980's) game console control. Not really the right sort of thing for rc flying.

donde, That's quite nice, I would rather not use images already in use though, i.e. the helicopter.

In fact I would rather nobody use images and clipart already in use - that poorly cropped plane by jazteck is a travesty.

logorain's is okay, but I wanted something a bit more exciting and not just a helicopter and not a pre-used image.

Also it seems people are either concentrating on planes or helicopters, but I want it to be clear that the site is about both (at least) - RC Flying in general.


The best one so far, is AnnaV's - I like the colors and the radio signal bit behind the C. The only thing I'm worried about is the source of the Cessna picture, and like I said that it only shows a plane.

First off, please don't sent entries or questions via PM. I want everything open so people can spot rip offs and so everyone gets to see all the feedback to any questions asked.

I was asked about planes/helicopters, so I would rather there was either no planes or helicopters or both planes and helicopters in the logo.

Now the feeback:

Dashrox, I don't really like the orange color and the whole thing is a bit bland.

ideosmil, they both look awesome - just need to get some heli action in there also somehow?

AnnaV, I think I like the first one you did better, it seems too long like that.

antitalent, don't really like the first one as it's too hard to see what it's supposed to be about - looks a bit paint brush arty. Same with the second one also, looks like a paper airplane or something?

S-Tan, I kind of like those, especially if there was also a heli. I'm a bit worried it looks sort of the Pepsi Cola logo though.

xaralee, don't like it so much, colors aren't bad but it's too boring.

So far, to give everyone an idea what I like, the leaders are ideosmil and second is AnnaV (first entry) and S-Tan.

Thanks for the feedback. I took your comments about my "rough draft" being a "travesty" and redesigned the entire concept. I took all of your ideas (both plane and heli) and many other factors into account, the quality of your current site being the main focus. I believe the new concept goes above and beyond the quality you need to improve your current site. If you need anything like colors or positioning adjusted, just let me know.
