Bought a link and it has affected my sites SERPs...

I puchased a link from a seller 2 months ago, first I thought it was the Panda algo but looking at google sitemaster tools and it shows that I have over 26,000 - YES, you read right....26,000 backlinks all using the same keyword and link all from one website so this could be the problem of the site slipping down google.

What am I best doing? Asking the seller to remove the link or swap it to another site? Or just leave it?

Do it fast otherwise you will loose your ranking.

 

Maybe it was a WP site and they left your link on each page by default.

 

As you have purchased the link so don't just remove it right now. The problem is very simple, your host(the website which links to your site) must be a dynamic website with thousands of pages. And my friend you link in added in some common area which appears in each page (say footer, or right panel etc.). Just ask him to remove the link from that position and insert it into body section or in a section which doesn't repeats in every single page.

Wait for few days to. Things will be settle soon.

 

but the problem is accroding to site explorer there are only 2,600 pages! Not 26,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

the seller of the link tells me he cannot swap the link to another site, so I have told him to remove it totally - as of yet I am awaiting his response if he does not respond I will have tot ake matters into my own hands to down the link...

 

Ask the seller to make sure it's not sitewide...

You know what you should do? Get that site and other sites like it to link to your competitors!!!!!
