what country should i target?

in Feb, 2011. i set up a blog about mobile phones to target Pakistan country and set up in wmt for Country Pakistan.

lot of original content, i am not ranking well in Google.com.pk .

i want to know that if i set my domain up for US in wmt, is there any chances to get ranked in google.com.pk ?

domain is .COM and having word "pakistan" in it
the target keyword shows exact searches 15000 in google keyword tools for pakistan. domain is exact but with dashes...

the-main-key-word.com

any idea pleas?

 

If your site is not ranking well in Pakistan, I doubt very much it will make any difference where your domain is set up, you would be better off finding out why your site is not doing very well, and getting more quality links, traffic and content, check out the top competition, find out what they are doing.

my top competition are on top without ANY written content.... i dont know why?
but i try to write well on every single post... getting indexed fast. but not ranked well.

first,where does your site hosting? It would be better if its hosting in your target country and you are getting links on your target country too, I mean sites that are hosted in your target country.

 

tipoo if you target it to international market its even better then local market.

try and give it a go definitely.

 

It is important to really know your target market. I think Google Trends is a good tool to find out how popular a topic is in a certain country. Just throwing ad money all over the world without doing any research isn’t smart.

 

As for me,local customers then you should target local area where you living right now.It would be good for your.

 

hi, if you want to get top ranking in particular region then get links from particular region. Suppose you want to get ranking in Google.com.pk then get links from .pk domain. it helps you lot in getting traffic and ranking as well.

 

You need to determine first whats your targeted audience, your success depends on your SEO campaigns

 

i am using US based hosting. 99% of Pakistan sites are hosted on foreign Servers, IMO.

thanks Saqib. actually, i target a keyword that include word "in-Pakistan" so if i target to US or google.com, i think this is not a good idea. i own .COM domain, set target country in WBT to Pakistan.

never tried to pay anything... working on only google traffic.

Tipoo! You had done a mistake opting .pk domain for your blog because if you wanted to target on regional basis local domains works fine in showing appropriate results in regional listings

i am not agree with you in regard of .pk domain name. with .com .net or .org, we have full choice to target any country. i own .US domains and getting INDIAN, ITALIAN traffic too, but regional settings are for US only. its mean, relevant content brings you on top. so thats why i am writing for Pakistan and targeting to Pakistan.

Get some strong links from the .pk domains, it will affect geo-targetting of your site. What don't you use the .pk domain for your business?

 

To get better rank on local search, suggest you use local hosting.
However, there are still many factor that affect your local serp, it might due to insufficient off page seo or bad onpage seo

 

@tipo from google webmasters tool target your site to pakistan audience this can help and 1 more thing if your site is new as you said in the post you start it in feb2011 then it takes some time if there is competition on that keyword in pakistan

and hosting etc is not much imp i also live in pakistan, we are forced to host sites on foreign countries but my site is on top ranking not only in pakistan in india also

local hosting is not well in Pakistan. can you pleas share your knowledge regarding many factors to rank in local serps?

i am also using USA based hosting. in webmaster tools, i set the target to Pakistan when i register the domain.

 

i registered the domain in Dec, 2010 and leave it till Feb, 2011.
my first post on my site was on 1st Jan, 2011. and no more posts till Feb. my domain is actually 4 months old.

attachment is the screen shot of WMT with 10+ queries and without 10+ there are 5500+ queries....

what is the progress of the site... 90% of traffic is from Pakistan.
