I want to develop a new business and am torn between establishing a WEBsite using Dreamweaver or establishing a Wordpress site. I know they both have their merits but would like your opinion on which is best and why. The site is to be developed for offline businesses to see what they can expect from using online marketing techniques to attract more business. I would appreciate your comments and help
What you will produce with Dreamweaver or with Wordpress is at the end the same : a website. The difference is that websites based on Wordpress come with a lot of functionnalities already implemented to manage content, and are somehow preoptimized for Google, but to really get what you want you need to understand how it works. When you are building your website from scracth, whether with Dreamweaver or any other tools, you design just what you need, but you have to know how to design it. Using "templates" in Dreamweaver is imho the worst solution because they are not really optimized, and you don't have the benefits of an evolutive and flexible solution like with WordPress. if you want to see what can be done with WP, just have a look to the showcase section of wordpress.org
Hi Marie-Aude Many thanks for taking time out to try to help. I appreciate your comments, I would not use a template in dreamweaver but as you say Wordpress appears to be loved by the big G Thanks again
I think for a business you should go with something else other than wordpress seems like everybody uses wordpress blogs and for a business just seems kind of cheap in my view
wordpress isn't a cms. its a blogging plateform. if you want to build a blog, go for wordpress, otherwise other cms should be given a thought.
Hi. I've been working with WordPress sites for years now and with all due respect to all who posted their comments above, WordPress can also be a CMS with all kinds of plugins you can use. You can set it to show a static page as your page and create other pages just like regular websites. And Wordpress is also best for business websites whether online or offline, there's no difference. It would only look cheap depending on the person customizing it and designing how it looks like. I have seen a lot of business websites that offer both products and services, and I would never think of them as cheap.
wordpress has so many plugins that it makes it hard not to go with it. Plus all the themes that go along.
Wordpress is just a CMS mostly used by noobs who don't know how to code . Use Dreamweaver only if you're a pro .
Hi Can I thank all those who have left their messages I believe that Wordpress holds the vote as it stands especially if it is constructed correctly, I like it for the plug ins and the flexibility and although I have constructed website using Dreamweaver I am no expert so I think I will be staying with Wordpress. Once again thank you everyone for being kind enough to take time out to try to help me. cheers
If you are a professional web developer than go with Dreamweaver. If not than try Wordpress templates for web development. More ever Wordpress is most commonly used CMS and provides SEO friendly templates. Means easy web promotion of website. So my vote for Wordpress templates.
highly recommend WordPress. they have a huge collection of plugins, tools, SEO tools are very popular. iand i have nothing to say about their templates, designs and ease of maintenance.
For a real website you have to work hard, thousands peoples are working on Wordpress and it get's updated almost every month. For your own system you need team of programmers that will cost a lot.
