    Your doubts are from an SEO perspective so are you worried about hosting a guest book or leaving messages in other peoples? (do they still exist?, haven't seen one since 1999)

    Press release is something,like letting people know that your are launching a new product or service. Press release are written for media persons and reporters. PR should be written in well manner should be about the new product. No idea about your second question.

    Press release is a written document that are directed at members of the news media to give the proper information about the events,services and products of their companies.It is used for publicity for products or events or to attract the user's attention.
    Guest book is a page on the website in which visitors give their proper information like their name,e mail address on that page.It is a form of leaving a public comment.

    yes it will. Suppose your company has won an award and you do a Press release with the company name, then after your PR is published, it will start ranking for your company name, if you have used it in the title of PR.
