    With the latest Panda update, the single most important thing is unique content. This has been the case for years, but even more so now.

    Being a Google site I would imagine your sitemap and such is already listed and you have analytics. I read recently (I have no idea how much truth there is to it, though) that using AdWords will give you a boost in PR.

    Several people have already mentioned quality backlinks - skip the mass directories and re-posted article sites in favor of forums such as this. Don't spam, but try to contribute to the discussions, and don't forget to include your link in your signature.

    Also, don't get too hung up on the term you want to rank for. If you're gunning for top listing for 'Hotels in Panama' mix up your anchor text from time to time such as using 'Panama Hotels' 'Visit Panama' 'Places to stay in Panama' etc.

    Google pagerank is just one of the thousands of factors that google use in ranking calculation (but yes it is still important).

    1. Have good and fresh content
    2. Submit your rss to aggregators
    3. Submit your blog to directories
    4. Write guess post and put a link to your site in the post
    5. When link building use keyword focused anchor text (very very important)

    SERPS is priority. I have seen sites with PR 0 that rank way higher than sites that are PR 5.
