    Is that count for real ? I see my site got some 16,000 and its crazy as I havent commented that much, not even 100 sites. What does this figure imply anyway ?

    It's usually lower than the actual links. Try to follow where the links came from

    might be you have forum posts... and a single forum post have multiple links...

    it could be what Tanya says. It is perhaps the multiple pages from a single domain like the forums.

    If you comment air on "recent comment" area its mean your domain url all on site's page for limited time. And if google bot indexing on that limited time.. It count your number of comment x indexing on limited time. You get the idea

    They are usually pretty accurate, so just keep building and double that number! :) Also you should track where the backlinks are coming from.

    Maybe on forum the number of backlinks is 1 link x number of forum posts. Let's say you have 2000 posts and since each post has signature below it, 2000 links ?

    you might have more than one link per website
    for example, sidebar link point to your website on 100pages website, you will get 100 backlink

    Google webmaster tool is the only trusted source to see all backlinks for a website that are counted by Google. And one can see a sample of backlinks for a website using the link:websiteURL in Google search

    Some days ago i was doing blog commenting for my site and that time i put comment in one fresh blog, now i get 1110 backlinks from that blog ...... wonder na,
    actually they put my comment every page as a recent comment from xxxxxxxx, and i got plenty of backlinks. I think same case happen with you

    If you get lucky and your comment is showb site-wide, dont be suprised in 2 weeks all those backlinks are gone and you're only left with 1 backlink from the page you dropped the link on. It happens everytime. Ive got an arcade with 210,000 backlinks as stated by google webmaster tools.
