WTF happened to Ezine articles?!

    I just submitted an article today in ezine with 400 words. Ezine is telling me this niche is saturated and I must edit the articles to 600 words. Are they becoming greedy with content?

    I suppose they need much higher quality and content to counter the effect of the Google Panda update. Their traffic is slowly going down http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/ezinearticles.com

    They shot themselves in the foot by lowering editorial standards for the sake of a quick buck. They are now trying to recover, without having to up the editorial staff spend too much. Good luck with that.

    I've noticed this before too, its pretty annoying.

    So are people saying that its not as worthwhile submitting articles to Ezine anymore, because the links don't have as much authority (hence them implementing the higher word counts)?

    This is the first time I heard that ezine is rejecting articles because the niche is "too saturated". So, if the niche is saturated, it must be 600 words? Ezine is being funny these days. I received an email newsletter from ezine stating they are now offering Diamond Author? I thought Platinum would be the highest ranking and now they come up with Diamond.

    Check out their updated guidelines here: http://ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines.html

    This particular paragraph should strike you fancy
    Having said that, unless you're in affiliate marketing, it would be wise to reconsider your long term site marketing strategy. Directories are on their way out. My publisher recently mentioned that the paid model that some of the directories are utilizing is really raising the ire of Google. Furthermore, individual article 'weights' are easily manipulated and they hold way too much influence in ranking results for Google's liking.

    Perfectly understandable, considering that some softwares out there are capable of churning out in excess of a thousand spun (& legible) articles for directory submission.

    So what's the next one? We all know now that ezine has become annoying with the panda update. Which article directory is an alternative to ezine? Goarticles?

    he's spun your post (very badly) with some form of cheap collaborative spinner. Presumably because he's too lazy to write something new.

    Interestingly, here's what the professionals spinner of choice * does to it:-

    I have spotted this before too, its quite annoying. So are folks saying its not as profitable submitting content to Ezine any more, as the links don't have quite as much authority ( therefore them implementing the heavier word counts )?

    The other option of course is that with 1 mighty post to his name, he's a bot, using the awful 'auto' spin features of something like 'theverybestestspinnerrrr' to automatically grab a post, spin it, and post in order to get his post count up to the point where he can spam links etc. Flag the post up, so the mods can figure out how to ban these bots quick.

    * contentboss, obviously.

    Ezine is definitely not worth the link juice anymore. I would go for articlebase and scribd for article submissions as these have much more stringent guidelines and google hasn't penalised them .............yet

    I prefer Ezine Articles to adapt the policy of posting original content mandatory! as HubPages confirms you that the posted content is unique and have not been posted anywhere else
