When I should go for second chance in DMOZ

Hi to all

I have two question one is -

how would I know my listing as been rejected by DMOZ editor?

and second one is

When I should try for second time in DMOZ.
I have hear that do submit your site and keep some passions. I have spend a lot of time but not getting inclussion in DMOZ.

If it's listable it shouldn't be.
If it's not listable, there's no point suggesting it at all.

The guidelines that you read when suggesting it the first time told you not to. You did read them, right?

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

 

Dmoz does not give any type of acceptance or rejection notification.
You have to check manually whether it is listed or not.

Since it is human edited directory, there is a huge backlog, some websites get approved after year long duration. As such, there is fixed time for resubmission.

It will be better follow the directory guidelines thoroughly while submitting for the first time.

It would certainly be a bonus if the editors took time to read those as well, as with all the sites that do not fit within said guidelines, it's really confusing to those trying to submit.

From my experience, you shouldn't waste your time on DMOZ.

Even your site is listed DMOZ, your site doesn't get help much. The backlink from DMOZ is strong as a normal backlink from other sites.

If you have time, just submit into DMOZ one tim and forget about it.

If we can caluate, DMOZ waste millions minutes of webmaster by submitting sites. I dunno why noone shut it down. The DMOZ directory is not useful for internet

 

So according to you, what's a useful directory?

this is just another crappy statement, i have seen many webmasters who are dying to get a listing in DMOZ & as per you its just a waste.

 

There is no real current evidence that it's actually helpful anymore, and there are more signs that it does little to nothing.

So, erm, yeah. Way to go to those regurgitating statements from 10 years ago which makes those webmasters dying to get in, dumb enough to die for something that's no longer worth it.

Though, if you still believe that free directories are worthy of submitting to, more power to you... go ahead & submit to the ODP, it certainly wont hurt...but if you are not bothering with free directories, you ARE wasting your time on DMOZ.

 

I have read the rumor on every other webmaster forum that its certainly dead but again, do you have proof that it is worthless
People start writing rubbing when they do they don't see their respective sites in the directory & i don't believe in rubbish statements until i see some strong P.O.C

Would you be able to shed some light on those "More signs"

 

don't even know if dmoz is still helpful, that is something I would really like to know. But resubmitting is not a good thing.
