    I recently had $50 to invest but I stayed clear of adwords etc and concentrated on building SE traffic. I paid someone to submit to directories and also paid someone to write a few articles.

    For me, link exchange is the best way..because they have the advantages of bringing in a highly targeted readership (for link exchanges where all members of the exchange have similar web sites), of increasing the "link popularity" of a site with Web search engines, and of being relatively stable methods of hyper linking.

    I think that is the best payed ad is google ad. Your ad will on many site, maybe on some big sites, like CNN or Imdb.

    A really awesome paid advertising method that most people don't know of is PPV. PPV means that you only pay for every time a customer sees your landing page. Unlike PPC where you could be paying up to $5 per click with PPV you could be paying $0.15 per view of your site. If you have a really effective landing page then its easy to see that the ROI could be very nice. They have sites likes DirectCPV where you can start off with a budget of $100.

    Stay away from adwords! If you want to do advertising that is similar to that go with an ad network instead. A good way is paid link inclusion on websites to build organic traffic and increase your search engine ranking. This will involve contacting sites with similar content to yours.
