    Good day.

My friend is unable to access his website and do anything ( upload / download, etc ). But, some can access, if they use a proxy.

Can I get some suggestions on the steps he can take to regain control of his site ?

The site brings up an internal server error. I am unsure if this was caused by someone hacking it or if it is a corrupt/missing file or server related problem. More information is needed....

    Hi guys...

according to my friend .. he is unable to access the site at all ... his hosting provider is changing server, according to him, to rectify the problem. Can anyone outline what steps he can do, in order to diagnose the problem ?

I do think your friend is yet not loosing the control over the domain. If he has the control over the domain, then he can point his NamServer to another until the hack in hosting is fixed. He should have the back up copy of his website in his physical drive.

Also, as you said some can access it through proxy, then it migh have the issue with the .htaccess file. Talk with hosting company for the malfunctioned .htacess file.

When someone hacks your website, they change your website cPanel password and then you are unable to login to your control panel!

In this case you need to contact your webhosting provider that you can't login!

So you should contact your webhosting provider!

Atlast if you don't get any help from webhosting provider then you can fight for a refund ;) and move to a different webhosting provider!

Yes, I do agree with you.

The reality is who paid the bill is the owner of the hosting account.

So billing proof will be enough to get back the hosting account.

Your friend's IP address has probably been blocked by the server's firewall. This usually happens if he fails to login to FTP/email/control panel multiple times, by port-scanning the server, triggering a security rule, etc.

Your friend should simply contact the hosting company and provide them with his IP address and a trace route to the server. The host will either unblock the IP or investigate why he can't access the server.
