    How do you use bookmarking for link development? Is it used for the backlink or do you use it more for the traffic? Has anyone had successful traffic from bookmarking?
    How many bookmarking sites do you rely on for results?

    as sarah said, you can't rely on them. even if you submit to all dofollow bookmarking sites, dont ever rely on a single link building mehtod for good result. you will need to put together a link building campaign that combines atleast a few good link building methods if you wanna see any result from it

    i dont get much traffic from these sites, but here and there i can few links from them whic are actually indexed by google.

    Bookmark links are never permanent , this is an option to strong your backlinks , in other words these are good if you wana build backlinks for your backlinks otherwise go for permanent one way backlinks.

    Well bookmarking sites do fetch you backlinks as well as traffic but in a long run. You cannot expect instant traffic from bookmarking sites. However I would advice you to go to the addthis widget and create accounts in all the bookmarking sites mentioned in the widget. Those sites are there in the list that mean they have some importance. After almost 6 months, I have actually getting 30% of traffic from these bookmarking sites. Remember you also do cross bookmarking in these networkings sites ;)

    Book Marking should be one of method as a part of other sources. Most of Book Marking sites are nofollow so it has no value in terms of PR. But helps for traffic.

    Bookmarking sites are good for generating traffic, they're usually not useful for getting backlinks. For getting traffic you can take some help from your friends on bookmarking sites, you can ask them to like your page as if your bookmarked link receive more likes then more people like to visit your site to check the content.

    A lot of people say social bookmarking doesn't work anymore. I have quite
    opposite experience. I bookmark my money sites regularly and see backlinks
    from sites like Buzzflash and others in the Market Samurai list of backlinks.

    I run a bookmarking service. You are welcome to give it a try. Comments welcome. I started using stumble upon, digg and delicious - then got the idea I could roll out my own... Off course I don't have their volume, but one has to start somewhere...

    I have several small blogs and small bookmarking accounts and I have not seen a lot of success from them so far...

    Bookmarking sites are good for indexing, but bad for backlinks. Traffic is very possible if you have a visible bookmarking account or better if you can get others to bookmark your pages. If others bookmark your stuff then real traffic is possible.

    Good luck. Like most IM stuff if you put the time and effort in good things will happen.

    Social book marking, in my opinion, comes under second position as far as backlinks are related. bookmarking is very good to bring traffic to your website, and linking supports your position in Search Engine Result page.

    What niche are you in?

    You can get serious traffic boosts from the bigger social sites if you submit your sites (or better pages!) and you have some hot topic.
    Heck, you can get a traffic peak to totally uninteresting and boring articles if you put them on reddit or stumble... (not that I recommend that - your bounce rate will go through the roof too!!)
