I am doing a site for a bakery - bake cakes and bridal consults. I wnat to make them look like a million dollor company of course, and yet they're not selling online just yet. Call to action includes calling for a cake, filling out a form for a cake which would then result in a return quote or reply, or a bride setting up an appointment. I think that, for this site (as opposed to a realtor or plumber), a contact button should NOT occupy the man nav on top, but be folded into insets and or calls to action at the end of the page. I think a ctc us button at top would make the site smaller in perceived size. Your thoughts? Nowadays I'm rethinking and looking at everything I do on a site esp. in industry context. Sam
I think it is always best to let site visitors know that they have the option to contact you, which I think would be especially important when dealing with brides. Whether it is simply a phone number visible on all pages or a link to a contact form, visitors will feel more comfortable when the option is there. When visitors have to dig for contact information they get turned off and their guard goes up. Just my perspective.
I think a contact us button is a must because it makes customers feel that little bit more secure about using the website, knowing they can contact you if anything goes wrong.
I think it should sit in the navigation bar as thats where anyone would look. Don't worry if they are not selling online yet, you obviously can't hide that fact so don't feel ashamed of it either. Use the contact button in the navigation bar like any normal site. If someone wishes to contact you, at least it will be easy for them to know how to do so...
You can also check on other websites in the same niche as you to know how things work for them. Contact us can be in the navigation bar or at the bottom where everyone can see them as well.
yeah, but there is no contact us button on amazon. to their credit they do have a help button. which I assume will eventually provide a path to a form or phone number. however, it doesn't "say" contact us, at least not at top. in the bakery's case, the contact us = the call to action which is the focus of very page; and I will have a cta at the bottom of or right of every page. And I will have the number above the fold. and about us, which i think is imporant will have a map etc. - see what I mean? need some deep thinkers here to take the counterpoint
