Are dropped PR domain names for chumps?

I've bought two PR4 dropped domains in the past three months and both of them lost their PR within 6 weeks, I'm feeling like quite a chump. Has anyone had success with buying dropped high PR domains?

Yes, I would never recommend anyone to buy dropped PR domains. Those domains have the PR from the previous website and when the website is not there, the PR drops. A lot of people buy the dropped PR domains, slap a website or directory up and sell links or try to sell the site for outrageous prices.

    I've bought the domain drop

    1 domain PR4 and 1 PR3 but dmoz listed

PR4 my domain drop to PR0 but my PR3 domain until now still PR3 ... seems possible because my domain dmoz listed.

so now every I search drop domain must be dmoz listed

What did you do with the domains? Did you put a site up with content?

Usually dropped domains lose there PR as the PR is due to content and not domain but in a few cases, PR is retained due to some reason like Dmoz listed or addition of new original content on that domain.

PR is a function of backlinks its not due to content.

you must have kept adding more backlinks. it must be a never stopping process, maybe slow though.

Thanks for all the responses, it seems like there's not really a final consensus? I guess it's just one of those "luck" things.
