The more links you have, and the higher quality those links are, the higher you are going to rank in the search engines. So what we have is a network of up to 116 microblogs with 200 words of content related to our niche, with links all pointing back to our targeted site, making our targeted site look like an authority on whatever topic we're trying to rank for.

A link wheel is a black-hat link scheme that is frowned upon in google. Just focus on making your site good, publishing on various sites (article directories, guest posts, etc.) and other honest, organic ways of promoting your site.

The minute you start thinking about schemes like this, you're going down a black-hat road. At best, you're wasting your time. At worst, you'll get your sites penalized or bumped in rankings.
