YES! domain age does matter. rather than left without any content include some fresh content in the domain. So its rank will increase gradually with time.
old domains got much more attraction ( if updated regularly) then the new ones. The cache rate of newer domains are lower then the old domains..
Domain age it of relevance, the older your domain the more weight it carries. This is only a small factor in where your page will rank but very bit counts. Chow chow, Kevin
Old website get high PR, but it requires update. If a website not updated for long time then Google exclude it from the index. So,look that. If so, then you have to work to get indexed by Google.
As for as my concern domain age is one of the import factor in SEO. Google believes that site with older domain is better established and reliable.
Ofcourse, buying an existing domain gives a head-start on your SEO efforts. You won't have to wait to establish credibility in the search engines.
Age of the domain does matters. Depends on the content that is posted in it too. You can rank high for an old domain, if you update it with new content related to the niche that existed in it
It's an uphill battle if archive.org reveals a bad history with your domain. You may end up having to tell Google that you just purchased it so that they will disregard its past. It seems like sometimes the age tranfers ownership and sometimes it starts back at zero.
