Question about selling text links

Discussion in 'General Business' started by deepman007, Mar 29, 2011.

    Hi

I just gotta an email from a company that wants to place text link on my site contents and paying me for $30 a month. I'm wondering how to tell if they are legit and not a scamer. Also, what are some of the questions i should be asking them so that they won't take advantage of me. I'm a noob in this link thing.

    Thanks

    First of all...

    1. Tell them to make 50% of payment.
    2. Ensure that they dont link any spam or porn stuff in it.

Just this much - People usually get these kinds of offers - And there is almost no chance of scam - because nothing is involved to do a scam - you get the money and place the links that's it and if they dont renew for the next month - remove their links.

    Pretty simple - isnt it!

    Hope it helps...

Google their product to see if there were any scam alerts against it, and check the WHOIS information of the link as well

If the website which is asking for link placement is of good quality and related to your website theme then you can deal for this offer.

First check the site it is legal or not, Make sure you give link to live sites not spam or ban sites. You can offer 50% upfront and place the link.

    Very Simple.

-Make a research about the website. Take a look if it doesn't involve in any fraud or scams online. Also, know if the website they want to put will affect your PR or your SERP result.

and if the website is legit and good enough.

-Ask them for an upfront payment or give them an offer like if they want to rent a space link on your website for a year, you'll give them 10% discount given that it'll will be an upfront payment.

100% upfront payment for this kind of business is a must IMO. They are the one who contacted you, meaning, they badly need to put a link on your website.

I also agree that you'd better ask for a 100% prepayment. Also make sure in the middle of the period that the link is still for the same site and was not redirected to some other site :)

The best way to go ahead with this deal is first ask their anchor text and site url to be placed. Go through that site thoroughly in google and check if it has any spammy links. Then ask them for 50% or complete payment before placing the link. You dont loose anything here, honey just make sure it is not a gambling or porn site link ;)

I got some similar emails and sold links before. But there was no price in those emails. They were asking me the price and my other requirements. You can ask 1 year upfront payment or anything else. They will be happy to accept all of your reasonable conditions if they are serious.

Usually they will ask a payment method and they will pay in advance before link is placed, but this not all the cases, some time buyer will ask you to put the link first than pay or pay you first than you put the link, you can ask them to pay for lifetime/monthly/anythings that you like to discuss.

if they don't pay or there is no further confirmation within 1 x 24 hours you can remove that link

Ask for the URL, if its not a gambling or porn site then i suggest make it live and request for payment.
If payment not arrives then the site is under your control remove the link, so not any loss for you.
