Hubpages is very similar to squidoo and in my opinion, those 2 websites are the best free places to add your content.
I am not too keen on putting too much original content on places like Hubpages and Squidoo.... Why not have it on your own website or blog? Sure it is a long road to make money money but in the end, if you keep at it, you will end up with a lot more. I use Hubpages to get backlinks to my websites. I like to get people to my websites where I can make the full amount of money from my content. At least I still own my own content.

Hubpages is a web 2.0 but like other blogging sites like blogger, wordpress...the main difference with some other blogging sites is their url structure...most blogging sites provide you subdomains e.g xyz.blogspot.com, abc.wordpress.com where in hubpages it will be hubpages.com/title-of-your-post.... Also one of the major advantage of hubpages it will get cached by search engine every fast and if you target a really less competitive keywords you can have good ranking in search engine
