Evolution of a Logo

Just a little video we created of the logo design process, from research to completion. about 2 and a half hours of work rolled into just over a minute.

I've never really seen anyone work with PS. This gives me a new appreciation for graphic designers and what they go through to make great logos! Nice work and thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone. That was actually a quick logo, it usually takes a lot longer, but I knew that I was recording, so tried to keep the file size of my video down. Anyways, glad you all enjoyed it

I think that the logo design process should be started from analyzing the competition (what companies present in the sector, what logos do they have, what they want to transmit with their logos, what color codes they use, and etc.). When we know what other companies have, we can start to generate different ideas to create an original logo. Normally at this stage I do sketches in the paper, I always have with me a notepad and some pencils, so I can draw my ideas anywhere I'm. Then I discuss my ideas with my client. And only after that I open Illustrator (or other vector program). The designer is not a rally racer. His task to do quality work to satisfy the client.

 

The logo was really good especially the fading effect. Sometimes just a simple text make a logo look at its best because it adds professionalism factor. Job well done

I agree 100% In this case however, the client had a specific set of requirements that needed to be applied. So it wasn't exactly a freedom of design type of logo. In most case where the customer isn't sure of what they want, or ask that I use my own creativity to create a brandable mark for their business, the process can be much more intense, requiring a ton of research, not only in what other businesses are doing within the same niche, but there is also a lot of research that goes into the type of business, the businesses customer demographic, and so on..

Some research went into this design, but not a lot, as mentioned, the customer requested specific applications to the logo. Thanks for your addition to the thread, you make some great points.

Actually I only charge $50 for logo design, which is much lower than I should. But I brand my business as an affordable graphic design alternative, so I try to keep to prices very reasonable while maintaining a high level of quality.

 

Good effort, needs finishing however.
