Do you think marketing is something that can be taught to anyone or something that you need some type of innate gift for? (e.g. you can teach pretty much anyone to play the piano reasonably well, but if you don't have a gift for music you probably couldn't become as good as a professional pianist even you would be punished by death for failing. By contrast, almost anyone can become a body builder if they wanted to).
I think it can be taught, but the ways of marketing are always changing as new technologies arise so you always will never master marketing.
Of course marketing can be taught. More specifically, it can be experienced. That is how the best hone their skills...
Of course it can be taught. Although it all depends on the person and their will to learn. Most people give up because its hard for them to learn, or they dont know where to start, but I believe it can definitely be taught.
Not sure that it can be thought. It's either you have it in you or not. It's like painting (or playing piano for that matter) - if you don't have talent, you can practice and work on your painting skill all your life and you'll hardly get noticed, while someone will become great artist without too much effort.
And what innate gifts could a successful marketer possibly have? As for the piano thing, even if the person has the innate gift or talent, they would still have to be taught to learn how to play a piano. You don't magically know something without even learning it. IMO, it all comes down to how you interact with other people, the wits, common sense and most importantly, the determination to succeed.
To keep it simple i feel anything can be learned(provided you are willing to learn that) but the real challenge lies in the implementation coz this is where your skills are tested
Anything can be learned. With your piano player example, some people are naturally talented at things like that (just like some people are talented at sports) so although you may not have the talent level to bee the best in the world, you can still be pretty good.
Some people learn it, some people are natural marketers. It all depends on how well you're able to communicate with others and such.
Hey Avesel. Anything can be learnt. From experience, I know that passion is stronger than talent. The truth however is, online marketing changes very fast compared to traditional marketing, and it is best learnt by experience. It's quite easy to follow a few reputable blogs on Internet Marketing and personally do some research. If you'd be in online business for a long time, this is something you can negotiate. PM me for quality blogs to follow. Best Regards.
Also, the more the amount of time you spend doing anything, the better you become. So, it's up to you to decide whether to learn or not.
Well my point is that effective marketing depends on communication skills and the ability to present something to the others in a way that will make them part their money to get it. Not everyone can do this. Some people are extremely communicative, while others are not even if they try very hard to be. Sure, you can learn marketing but if you don't have it in you, you will always be average, no matter how hard you try. Not everyone can be a politician, or a doctor, or a lawyer, etc. Sure you can try very hard, but if your IQ is low, or you don't feel it in you, how can you expect to finish necessary schools and then be successful in your job? Simply you can't. Some people say that anything is possible and that human mind has no limits, but I have seen many people try very hard and fail, while others get an idea and succeed very quickly. My opinion is that not everyone is meant for marketing.
Practice practice and practice. OK so you might not have the size to be a jockey or the physiqe to be heavy weight champion of the world but you sre as hell have a brain capable of marketing. So get on it
