Google Webmaster tools impressions? high but ...doesnt make sense

hey guys this is what im seeing on my google webmasters tool for a month old site ive been working on



somehow im having over 900 impressions for one keyword, but its positioned at 149 it says...how is this possible? or am i just interpreting this wrong

 

I think 900 impressions a month is possible for a high searched term placed around 149. Also, 140 is also the average position. There could be some google's (google.co.uk or google.it) that rank your site higher than that. Chances are that's where most of your impressions are coming from.

 

Makes sense here as well - seen much more odd numbers

 

1 impression means your list displayed once in search result (SERP)

So, if your list in 149, means the 15th page, and 900 people see that page in 1 month.

 

Heh, my top keyword has 90,000 impressions, 3,500 clicks and is in position 5. Unfortunately its not a keyword that has much to do with my site, but for whatever reason it ranks really well ... as do lots of other pointless keywords that that site has really jumped in position for since the farmer update.

Hence, redirecting people to another site because I don't *want* 15,000 people a day to that website. There's nothing on it!

 

Webmaster tools can be very valuable. Keep analyzing the data to improve your traffic.

 

It is not possible to rape traffic as equivalent to the impression. Your ranking also mater in your conversion rate.

 

That particular keyword was searched 900 times on search engine and 149 is your website position for that particular keyword .....
