Different people have different choices. But PHP is the best for me. Because

(a)It is Open source and almost all the hosts support it.
(b)It is widely used, so support is good.
(c)It is easy to learn :)

Used to be c++, but to me Java is the best now. It's portable, easier to learn, and a lot more people use it.

I would say PHP, it is a very fast language and constantly growing as the Internet gets bigger and better. It will always be needed and will only continue to grow. Always work.

    Thanks,

    Michael

ASP has a high cost of ownership. There are a lot of jobs available, but it seems as if the economy doesn't run well with ASP since it's also a lot more expensive hire people to do a programming language such as this. Also, ASP.NET has a model view controller.

Depends on the job at hand...

    PHP for web
    C# for desktop
    C++ for games

    Entirely IMHO of course

Java can be preferable as a best programming language as it is a platform independent and always have a scope in market.

Just as English is not better than French or Spanish, no programming language is better than the other.Every language is tailored to a specific task.

I will say depend for what task.

For web, it divide into front-end and back-end
in front-end, html, css, javascript in essential
for back-end, ruby on rails seem taking popular now, php also popular choice among ppl.

i will say all language got it own community and popular, depend learning curve/community/open source project and other. so each ppl sure got different opinion
