"Image Popup" Will that effect my rankings on google?

    I have few sites which show up big image right after visitors enter to the site,

    its just like popup on this site of one guy who is ranked for "make money online"- carlocab.com

    i want to ask if that can effect my rankings?

    google seo guide discourages using content on popup. for image i dont think it matters regarding seo.

    however as a user i would be annoyed.

    It shouldn't really matter too much for SEO I think - unless the popup links to a really dodgy site (porn, gambling, malware, viruses). If the target site is dodgy, don't do it, in case you get put into a bad neighbourhood.

    Popups might piss off your users, but if the dude's paying you enough then pissing of a few users will probably be ok. :)

    I also think it depends on the type of pop-up. Some are overly annoying, others aren't as bad and are actually relevant or interesting to the website's material.

    It should be fine, as the google bots will simply read your page's source code. Google won't mind so long as you aren't driving traffic using AdWords.

    thanks for the answers, so popup wont really matter, i have set 1 sec delay before it pop ups is that fine or should i do it 3-4-5 seconds?
