for video game related websites try uploading gaming related videos to gamerstube.com and adding a link to your website in the video. site is very well indexed in google. I suggest adding your own content, or game trailers.

I don't know where you heard that, but I wouldn't stop the tried and true methods of SEO just yet.

 

You have already told that you have tired to use old methods, but their is no one fixed way to promote to your website. Any way which is helpful to promote to website that is best. SEO is a strategy to promote to your web not have a actual way to promote to it.

 

I'm not sure it is a new technique but a technique that never had an official name. Linking all your web content together much like trading links has the same effect. The thing to remember is for the most optimal results is to keep the topic relevant across all your network outlets. You can set your links to the do-follow attribute so they pass link juice.

Matt Cutts is part of the anti-spam team at Google. I agree he is source of information but his information is not always in the best interest of us webmasters. Some of the information given by Google is often very vague and it is meant to be that way on purpose, they are not going to give you all the trade secrets on how to rank number one in their search engine.

Content is king as long as you link relevant content together. If I where you I would start seo with a full fledged link campaign. Backlinks/inbound links still play the biggest role of where you rank within Google.

 

I tend to agree some directory submission websites are simply email traps to send you solicitations. After the well dries up they sell these email lists to the highest bidder. I closed down one email account simply because after I submitted a site to a directory I could not keep up with the amount of spam/junk emails I was receiving.
