It's always a good business practice to verify a domain ownership via WHOIS.sc Ask seller to disable domain privacy settings, then send a message ( or any code, number combination) to the seller's email address as it appears in WHOis. Then ask him to PM (not by email) you back the message/code to verify receipt. Most likely, if he owns the domain, he'll be able to PM it. Same holds true for domain buyers that have 'surprisingly' sent you a payment via paypal without too much questions, seemingly too eager or in a hurry to get the transaction done. Send a code to his paypal email address and ask him to send it back (NOT by PM) but using his paypal email.

If the buyer owns the paypal account, he'll definitely be able to access its inbox and send you back whatever code or message you've emailed to verify he owns the account. A hacker usually is unable to do this.

It's not 100% full proof but it is effective most of the time and more than enough to save you your hard earned $ or precious domains.

This is the same paypal email that user 'uzzi' used to sell some now "disputed" domains yesterday. There are some other threads here where people are having trouble with 'uzzi'. Looks like uzzi and TopOnlineMarketer are the same (or working together). Great... I actually gave uzzi good feedback because my sale went well until 24 hours later when the domains went into Disputed status. I quickly filed a ticket with PayPal, of course, but I feel bad about the positive feedback and have asked the admin to review/remove it.
