Is this related to wordpress, please help !!

Hi friends,

Couple of days before I bought a new domain from godaddy and named the servers from the baby plan I got from hostgator.
However whenever I type my site url : http://www.mydomain.com/, it automatically directs to http://mydomain.com/

I dont want the second option, I just want my site URL display to http://www.mydomain.com/

Please help me.

That is probably an .htaccess file that HostGator has set up in your domain root folder which does the redirect. Go into your hosting control panel and look for the file and rewrite the redirect the other way around.

Dodger it right but I wouldn't edit your .htaccess unless you know what you're doing, I would go check out "redirects" in your cpanel and set up a 301.

 

if you install wp on that domain then you can just edit in setup page ( add www. )

while installing wp what you have done is you used just http;//domain so the wp installation is setup without www

 

I never thought about that. Could be a possibility

Have you tried in Setting -> General -> and put both www in address URL?

 

Under your WordPress General Settings, please check the field "WordPress address (URL)" and "Site address (URL)".

Not with Hostgator. Don't use them. Sorry. But they should have a File Manager that you can use. The file is the root of your domain folder. Open it up, copy all the text in the file, then post that text here.
