Wordpress is a blogging software but Joomla a CMS ?!?

    During my research for finding the best option for my future site, i found out that in Cpanell and specially Fantastico, they put Wordpress in blogging softwares and Joomla in CMS section !

    Why joomla is a CMS but WP a blogging software?

    And the main question, i want to start an information portal, and my main goal is to earn by Google Ads after becoming a high traffic website.which one is better for me? (this is not a blog,it's a website !)

    I would say joomla would be better for you as a portal website as you can do more with joomla. Yes they are both technically CMS's and blogging software but Wordpress is first and foremost a blog and joomla is first and foremost a cms. They do both well but are originally designed for specific tasks.

    Plenty of extensions related to adsense for joomla.

    Originally, WordPress is a blogging system.
    And Joomla is a portal system. (because, even Joomla doesn't has built in comment system)

    Offcourse WordPress can be turned to a website and Joomla to a weblog, but if you look to a core installation it actually makes quite good sense.

    Today the boundaries blurred. Now wordpress very powerful cms. Not only for blog.
    Portal, Shop, Online Magazine, News, Video.

    I agree that wordpress is mostly a blog CMS , though it can be easily managed to create a good portal and website. Joomla will take time to understand.
    i did the same with wordpress. i m running upscguide.in like portal on wordpress sucessfully.

    Of course, Wordpress is mostly blog system, but I think that advanced webmaster can develop own Wordpress-based portal and even forum with great capabilities of plugins and templates.

    WordPress is an open sources CMS geared toward helping people publish blogs and websites without having to do any sort of in depth code writing.Joomla is another open source CMS, geared toward helping people create complex websites with little to no coding.

    Both are different with aspect to usage! Wordpress is a pure Blogging Platform where as Joomla is a complete CMS with package of great modules to support dynamic features
