I've worked professionally with SEO since 2005, and every day, my sites receive roughly 30-40.000 Unique Visitors from Google. Over the years, I've developed a secret strategy I call "The 4 Musts". A lot of people will charge you for their secret strategies (don't pay them!), but in the spirit of "information wants to be free", I'm giving it away for free. So, without further ado - here it is: I've found that top rankings is about the ideal combination of Authority and Relevance. There's a streamlined way of attaining this ideal combo, consisting of 4 "musts" - that all have to match up: 1) The LINKS that point to the site you're trying to rank for, should all have anchor-text matching your desired keyphrase - such as "Used Mercedes cars"... 2) The TITLE of the page you're trying to rank for, should match what the link-texts are saying. Remove all else. Don't appent "- Your Site Name" to the TITLE, keep it clean like this: "Used Mercedes Cars". So the title should match the text of the incoming links. 3) The H1-tag of the page you're trying to rank for, should match the Linktext and the Title-tag. In this case, the H1-tag should state: "Used Mercedes Cars". 4) The text on the page you're trying to rank for, should be all about "Used Mercedes cars" - and you should try to have a keyphrase-density of 2-6% for the phrase. Use a tool like Ranks .nl to measure the on-page keyword-density. And that's about it. Make sure all of the 4 Musts are aligned, and you'll have a fair chance of attaining the number one position for your keyphrase. Got questions? Ask away.

It is generally not considered a good idea to have the anchor texts of incoming links all use the exact same keyword phrase. That looks artificial and "manipulated" to the search engines. It does not resemble the varied anchor text of natural, spontaneous, voluntary linking to your site — which the search engines like to see.
