do article directories allow anchor text in articles?

this may be a stupid question but I have always used anchor text in the "author bio" part of the articles but have noticed quite a few articles online that include anchor text in the actual article.

do most of the articles directories allow this? if so, what is over kill? maybe 3 or so per 500 word article.

    any advice would be appreciated.

It will help you to read the editorial guidelines of the directory where you want to publish your article. EZA is very strict, but can be used. If you want to post articles on a website and link anchor text within the article body, head over to ArticlesBase.com.

Many times, it depends on the directory you submit the article to but the directories that do allow body anchor text will usually not let you do more than 2 links to the same website. FAQ and guidelines will help a lot because if you break the rules, you may get banned or have to revise the content.

Great info. If most sites don't allow anchor text how can you make the most out of the articles you submit? Is there info you can put in the author bio section, just looking for the best bang for all the time it takes to write and submit these!

If you have articles written for the purpose of gaining page rank and allowing viewers or traffic to get to a web page from a link on the article, the best advice is, quality. When it comes to "link juice" the least amount of links on a page will give you more power from that page than a web page with 100s of links on it.

From my experience, Google and other search engines will start to notice if there seems to be a deliberate excessive use of links and can actually lower your chances of showing up in results because of it.

If your content is relevant and informative with little to no errors, your viewers will click on the link and enter your website, if there is no link capability on a directory, I would not use it unless you just like to write for the fun of writing.

    Hope this helps!!

Although it totally depends on article directory where you are submitting articles, most of word-press enabled article directories allows multiple links in article as well as in author bio section.
