I have a website that is about 5 months old. I have made a Facebook page for it that has over 550 fans, a Twitter account that has about 150 followers, a StumbleUpon account, and some other social networking accounts. I have had Universities across the United States like Valparaiso, University of Illinois, Duquesne, Villanova, and others do articles in their school papers. With that said, I have about 70 visits per day. Am I doing something wrong, or am I missing something?
You should register on the leading affiliate networks, find products that are relevant to your site content and add relevant good banners.

Don't take offence but if you can't describe your site I'm not suprised you're struggling with traffic. Chances are you're going to struggle if you youself don't even know how to describe your site. Not very enticing!
I can describe it, but it takes quite a few lines and usually confuses people. So I have conformed to just showing them what it's about instead of trying to explain how it works.
You're not even close to being able to seriously monetize your website. Where are you getting most of your traffic? Focus on those areas. Pump some money/time there. Don't spread yourself out too thin by using multiple media half-heartedly.
Yes, it is about love and relationship but how does it work? Is it something like a social network or a blogging site or something like what? I checked it (though it has been just described) and there are boxes with I think love letters (are they?) then lots of hearts as ratings? Kindly give us the IDEA to sum the site's purpose up. By the way you can join forums with same niche, you can also comment on other blogs or have promotional banners.
The idea of the site is to allow anybody to come to my site and make a box for someone or something they love or care about in their life. It doesn't have to be love, but it has to be positive or relate to some sort of relationship with another person. People can write whatever they want inside a box, add some pictures, maybe a video, pick the font color, and we are in the process of implementing more customizable options to make every box even more unique.
I would of asked if it brings you any "reasonable" revenue for putting it on your website, but since your question is "what to do" tells me that its not worth asking. Anyway, how many new VS. return visitors do you get? I dont see that you're using any sort of tracking on your site, are you?
There really isn't anywhere else to put the ads except for the very bottom. What do you think I should do? Not really, I just use the information that HostGator provides me with. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but at least it's something.
Ok... here is what i saw so far... You have a sort of a ... love/dating website and you got traffic which is great. You have adsense which is barley bringing any revenue right? Also you dont have proper tools for for tracking and monitoring your visitors. And from what i've saw so far i cant tell why should the visitors will want to come back and "hang" on your website again. That should be your next and main goal. Once you get people coming on your site the next trick is to make them come back again and again. If people dont come back then the site will give you nothing more than headaches (you'll be looking to get more traffic and visitors like so many DP members). Ok now on to the goodies: 1. I like the appeal of that girl on the youtube video. She looks genuine, interesting and she doesnt look like she is doing the video only for the money you've gave her. Give her more space, expand the video size she will catch the visitors attention and she also explains in a very good way what the website is all about (instead of making visitors wonder what the heck is this website about) 2. I saw that the visitors have to give you their name and email to get a box which is good. Have you done any email marketing before??
No, I have not done any email marketing, and I have been trying to think of ways to get people back since the beginning of this project. That is my biggest downfall so far. Why do you ask?
You should do some work about search engine oprimization. for example you can submit some highy quality articles in some forums.
