Hi, I'm just finding out about directories and how popular they are on this forum. (I've only been reading about them and researching for a couple of days.) I've seen some charge $2 to $15 for adding a link to their directory. What I would like to know is if anyone has paid for a link before and if you have, did you get a good return on investment?
Ive paid for many $50 links and even once for a $150 link... so far no ROI Link building doesnt depend that much on one link, also depends on the keywords you are targetting.
Hello, There are a couple of web pages that offer paid and free directories. Checkout best-web-directories.com and strongestlinks.com. Any one know of any other resources that offer well organized free and paid directories? As Seiya said, it's a process of building resource links that will enable a website to rank high in search engines for relevant keywords. I think it would be better to invest in permanent inclusion directories rather than the ones that have limited directory inclusion time period (most of these offer one year).
On average paid directories give better return, just the simple fact that they have less links, you get more clicks and could get easily on the first page of the category. Some directory links give me a visitor a day not bad for the investment.
i bought lots of links for one of my sites months ago, now it seems to take up and have some rankings and steady traffic from google. so I can say it pays off
i get good returns most of the time most of the time it only takes one sale to get money back then that listing is free i still havnt made anything from some so called "high-profile" directories where listings are $20-$50 per year tho
Some of the comments we have received for Forplex Comments from New Listing Owners ‘I do not have a problem paying for a listing in a high quality directory. $6.00 is a very reasonable fee.’ ‘the SEO value of the link alone is worth a lot’ ‘16USD is great value for a Featured Listing’ Thanks please take a look
it's pretty hard to measure ROI for a paind link, since most benefit is in google rankings, not in direct referers of a particular link. I use also paid links, but I buy on themed directories that are specific and well know in my field of interest (php scripts) and here ROI is pretty good. but I would not buy links in general directories
yes, it is important to have references from related web sites. A link from an unrelated web page has potential to do more harm than good. This is because, it distorts the theme, and a search engine may interpret the original web page to which there was a strong incoming link (but unrelated content) in a different way. This may in turn lead to unproductive traffic, that may only lead to bandwidth consumption, and more maintenance! What is the experience of others in this respect? thanks.
Thanks for the enlightenment guys. With this, I've put together my own link directory There's no categories... just one big long list sorted by $price. (min 50 cents - only cos paypal takes 33 cent cut!) Wish me luck!
Good luck with that I don't think that you'll find many takers on that offer. Your site will just look like a gigantic link farm. SEO-wise, there will be almost no value.
Really? Don't all link directories look like that? what do you think i need to change to get some takers?
I pay for lots of directories. It has good ROI. It's not an immediate return, but it does pay off. I like hanging out here because you can get into a lot directories for free when they first launch. So you get on the first page of the category for free. A lot of times, these directories go paid later on.. and these people are paying to be behind you when you didn't pay a dime.
I can say quality listings help a lot. In my case, I listed my site which had no traffic from Google in high quality directory(paid of course) and after 3 weeks from that I get 20-30 uniques from G only. Same from Yahoo and MSn together.
Thanks Britishguy and ablaye. The site hasn't costed me anything yet (apart from my time which I've learnt a lot from anyway) so I'll continue with it but obviously try and improve it where neccessary. I think I should make a new thread for a review / advise about my site so this thread doesn't go off topic.
I didnt pay for directory inclusion, i have been very lucky with one free submission : more than a year ago i submitted my site to one of the millions directories out there and this month i had the pleasant surprise to discover that the page my listing is on has some good rankings for some kw within my niche, making a couple of sales for me.
Well, here is the list by order I submited: www.avivadirectory.com www.alivedirectory.com www.sevenseek.com
