SEM and SEO?

I have a blog and want to promote it on Google. Which of SEO or SEM (Search engine marketing) is more effective for me?
And also where can i get a lot of information about SEM?

 

Usualy is the best combination of both
but take a note: if you do great seo, part of SEM is automatically done for you,,
If you have some daily affordably budget then go ahead and pay for some quality advertisement(CPC-adwords, CPV - google this)

1 hint: when starting such as blog, pay for low cost keywords and make some testing.
It is not recommended to pay for high paying keywords at the start of this journey.

Don't forget to get quality unique content. If you have unique content then you are most likely heading success(it can take months) so be confident about your blog because if you give up after 2 months seeing 1$/m profit, this is not success road. If you start blog on any hot niche topic, stick with it and never show your backs to your hardwork on this blog.

Most famous marketers blogging 24/7/31/365!!! and they won't give up...

P.S.S.S: Do article submission, Press releases, relevant blog commenting(not spamming lol), use yahoo answers to answers question(BTW there is a bunch of ppl who are driving traffic to their blogs by yahoo answers), put your blog to your signature on any relative forums(google them)... There is lot of stuff how can you get free traffic so do it precissely.

For sem i use www.semrush.com works great to finding out what your ranking for and if yours a popular keyword work with it to rank higher for it

i think you should use the broader aspect of SEM for marketing which should include SEO.

SEM and SEO both are useful as per SEO knowledge is concerned.So try and get more traffic through SEO as it is gained by organic traffic while for SMO you may need to pay a little bit.
