My Test: Text Link Ads SE Ranking & Traffic Test w/ Results

Purpose of this test is to see the effectiveness of Text Link Ads and to see how it affects traffic both organically and directly. Organically meaning how high PR link affects SE ranking and driving traffic via SE (search engines) and directly meaning people clicking on those text-link-ads. I will be providing screenshots/result analysis as the process roles along. You can take what you want from this test (no guarantees), and I will try my best to update it with current results.

I don't know how valid this experiment will be now that you have publicly stated where your links are posted and what links they are.

 

Because he's trying to measure the effects of the links in terms of PR and SE traffic.

Although it's probably best to unlink them, just in case DP contributes a bit of PR...

 

I was hoping most of the effect from TLA will be coming from the PR and the effects of SE ranking on the keywords. But I agree, I should have not have posted the links which I now cannot edit out. In any regards, the four links have now be listed on the respective sites so we will see what happens. I have heard text links and SE improvements can happen in a matter of days, but as Jim and also TLA points out it could be 2-3 mo before the true effects are realized. In any case, I think this will be an interesting experiment to see the effects of TLA. I(we) will know after 1 month whether to continue on for another 1-2 months for a full-on test, but this should suffice for the most part as a general reference of its short term effectiveness.

Results will show in a matter of days for me. Also the keywords you are targeting is pretty easy keyword to rank good on as it has 4 words in your anchor text. You should of target keyword such as SAT Vocab... =I

You are correct. I was under the impression that having more text was better, but that is not the case.

CORRECTION: All links are now anchored as 'SAT Vocabulary'. This will make it very clear if TLA works in SE ranking. See below.

Update: No results yet. Traffic is pretty much the same with no increase in SE ranking.

 

well its normal to have no increase in SE, but traffic should increase atleast just a bit more...

 

I think you've made a mistake.
You went for the PR instead of the topic.

You should buy links for your site on topic related sites and not on sites which have a high PR.
If you buy links on a non-related topic site, the value of the PR decreases.

It's better to buy 1 PR5 link on a topic related site than to buy 1 PR7 link on a non-topic related one

One week? Think like 3-4 months and come back and tell us the results - this stuff takes time. Those links may not have even been crawled yet in a weeks time.
