Backlinks are definitely the most important factor in SEO! There are lots of different types and different ways to gather them... But otherwise, on-page factors have a small impact and include: - Metatags - Include important keywords in title, desc and kw's - KW Density - Write naturally, but try to include all your important kw's. 3-5% is probably a good amount to stick with... - Heading Tags - Include important kw's in H1, H2 and H3 tags - Images - Name images with kw's and include ALT tags with keywords - Link Structure - include keywords within links throughout your website Those are just some of the basics, and I might have missed a few. I'm sure there are some good posts about "on-page seo" within the forum or on Google...
but i thought meta tags were no longer counted in search engine rankings for search engines like google?
Anchor text link building is one of the most important aspects, and don't just link build your home page, deep link some of your landing pages to give your domain better authority. The only real meta tag you should worry about is the title tag.Include your keywords there but don't keyword spam it, make it look natural and under 60 characters. Forget about the meta keywords google have ignored those for years and Google also does not give any weight to your description tag either but it's still usefull to engage a searcher to click your link in google as it tells them a bit about your web site. Keyword density in your website, I wouldn't waste too much of my time figuring out the density in your content, Google applies only little weight to these on page factors. As long as you mention your keywords a couple of times on your content it should be fine. My belief in things to consider in this order are 1.Keyword focused anchor text from external links 2.External link popularity 3.Keyword usage in the title tag (especially the first word of your title tag) 4.Keyword usage in a H1 tag 5.On-page keyword usage
Basically Meta tags are still counted in SEO but with a very low value so don't Forget Content is King , Backlinks the Queen . Also take Care of H1 Tags and ON seo optimization
Sorry to burst a bubble, but Keyword Meta Tags don't matter one bit. Nor does keyword density or images. 80% or more of SEO is done off site. Get the 20% on site done correctly, and then worry about the 80% off site, which is 99% linkbuilding.
I agree with signify, he got the answers for this questions as the list is most important SEO ranking factors, you can google "seo ranking factors" to find out more information that you need.
Backlink is so important, other than that you should have content that supports the links pointing to it.
but i heard some people say that they didn't have good content, but their webpage still landed first in search engines
Haven't you ever heard that content is the King? It wasn't came out of nowhere without any basis. If links are just the only important factor in SEO, so you mean that you can even rank an empty site on the first page of Google?
yes of course content is very important if even to get a high conversion rate from your visitors, but content speaks for itself, if you have naturally good content, you will build links without even knowing about it because people will be linking to that content if it's great quality, so through good content you'll get good links so content comes in hand in hand with link building.
well aside from increasing your backlinks, you should also focus on generating good traffic for your site and building brand awareness.
